Our major research interest is; 1.QOL of HOT patients, 2. Molecularchemical analysis of nitric oxide synthase in pulmonary vessel, and 3. Molecular characteristic of pulmonary circulation in high-altitude adapted animal. The first issue has been progressed to build up the society of patient treated with HOT in Fukui prefecture and actively continued to enhance the good QOL of them. The fruitful results are currently opened at many domestic and international scientific meeting. The study is in line with the assessment and improvement of patient's QOL, a one of mid-term goal of our University. The 2nd and 3rd one are joint programs for investigating the molecular mechanism(s) of hypoxia-induced changes of pulmonary circulation. This work is aimed to have new therapeutic strategy for treatment of patient with chronic respiratory failure and is continuously supported by Japanese government foundation.

Research
In a pilot study of newborn screening by tandem mass spectrometry for inherited metabolic diseases, we provide medical and nursing cares including diet therapy using special formula, life support for avoidance of fasting, and ER medical intervention, specific to the respective diseases. We also provide the special diagnostic tests for a spectrum of inherited metabolic diseases to medical centers in India and China as well as domestic hospitals. The study in diagnosis, therapy, and nursing support for growth disturbance due to various causes is another interest for us.
